To Do: Check Your Big Rocks

I LOVE this story. I live my life by it. Read please:

After filling the jar to the top with rocks he asked, “Is the jar full?”

People could see that no more rocks would fit, so they replied, “Yes!

“Not so fast,” he cautioned. He then got some gravel from under the table and added it to the jar, filling the spaces between the rocks. Again, he asked, “Is the jar full?”

This time the students replied “Probably not.”

The presenter then reached a bucket of sand below the table, and dumped it on the jar, filling the spaces between the rocks and the gravel. Once again he asked “Is the jar full?”

“No!”, the students shouted.

Finally, he grabbed a pitcher of water and filled the jar completely, asking to the public what they could learn from that illustration.

One of the participants answered, “If you work at it, you can always fit more into your life.”

“No,” said the presenter. “The point is, if you don’t put the big rocks in first. . . would you ever have gotten any of them in?” {from here}

Here is my deal, I started this new job (which I love, right) but I put it 100% first in my life. No, I am realizing that I really need to get my "big rocks" in check.

My Big Rocks: (not really in order)

-my health

-church

-my family

-eating healthy

-exercising

-respecting myself

-taking care of my belongings

-my friends

-my finances and savings

These are the "If everything else in my life fails, Ill still have these." So I like to make sure that I keep them as my priority and I haven't been doing that lately.

So I have decided that I shouldn't date anyone or worry about guys until I get some things in check in my own life. Plus, I could REALLY avoid all of that extra drama in my life right now.

To Do: Belt It

I am really digging Mrs. Obama's belts these days. Ever since SJP wore a black studded belt in the Sex and the City movie, I have been wanting one.

To Do: Shoe Clips

Shoe clips are back!

My mom had a bunch of these when I was growing up and I was just thinking about them the other day. What a fun way to dress up some simple heels!

Yay for Etsy.

I can't stop thinking about how much I love these pictures that I saw over at a Cup of Jo.

They are taken by Tom Robinson. These are all the fun places that he and his girlfriend have traveled to. I just love them!

Black & White, and everything nice...

I have really been falling in love with black walls lately. These images are all so beautiful and inspirational.

Anybody remember that line from Sex and the City? Its my fave.

I love anything fancy that goes on my head. For the Ball this weekend (actually both) I wore something fancy.

But I sure love these little ones as well.

Oh...you haven't heard?

I am sorry, I haven't shared.

Remember when I had a fabulous job. And then didn't anymore.

And then, I blogged a lot and had a fabulous summer. And then didn't anymore.

Well, I found this fabulous little job, that I love.

In fact, it is my dream job. My apologies for not sharing.

I work for the Marine Corps these days. And if you know anything about me then you know that I love the Marines.

I spent the weekend planning my first Marine Corps Birthday Ball. It was fabulous and I am so happy.

And now...

Happy Birthday Marines! Today is your day!

Mine is Black.

here and here.

What is yours?

Halloween?

How was your halloween?

I am not a fan. My mom loved it growing up. In fact, she owned a costume shop that was pretty frickin cool but I have never been a fan of Halloween.

This year was fun since I spent it with one of my favorite families doing the whole trick or treat thing.

How much do we love this picture from my new favorite blog?
