which reminds me... resolutions.

Thank you Huffington Post. Link from here.

To Do: Watch More Baseball

I love baseball. love it.

Reasons why:
1- I went to a baseball college and became friends with all the guys. My best guy friend Steven plays in the minor leagues. Baseball guys are way cute too.

2- Arizona is one of the two locations where they have Spring Training. If you were to ask me my favorite time of the year I would say "Spring Training." The tickets are cheap, the weather is nice, and there are like 5 games to choose from a day. I use to try and go to a game a day (or every other day.)

3- DC has a great team... well... the team colors are Red, White and Blue and thats fun! The games are fun and cheap and you can hop on the metro and go anytime.

The only problem is that I can never find anyone to go with me to the games. Guys in DC aren't that into baseball. :(

I love it. I am planning on going to the game today. If you are interested you should come too.

(image of the new stadium from here.)

***Update: I am going to try and go to the game Tuesday night now. Its T-Shirt Tuesday!!!!

To Do: Read All About It

So last night I skipped the baseball game to wait in line at Borders to get Read All About It! signed by Mrs. Bush and Jenna Bush.

I bought one book and waited in line with all my friends. As we got close to the table where they were sitting I realized that the two crazy men in front of me had a stack of papers and no books to be signed. Urgggh...

So Secret Service and all of Mrs. Bush's staff were all worried about that and trying to get these two crazy men away from the table that I didnt even get to speak to Mrs. Bush. So what do I do.

I go back, buy two more books and wait in line again. Of course I talked to everyone the first time and all the Secret Service recognized me and teased me for going through twice. But it was all worth it because I got to speak to Mrs. Bush this time and she thanked me for everything. :)

Check out the video about the book here

Flickr Friday: Remembering Arizona

I want to start posting some great images from Arizona.

I want everyone to see how beautiful my home state is but I am mostly doing this for me. :)

This image is of the Hayden Flour Mill right in the middle of Tempe where I used to live. I loved hiking A Mountian at sunset. This is an awesome image.

Love of My Life...

This is DL's (see sidebar for more info) dog. I am in love.

More here

Spring Shopping!

Here are some of my favorite items for spring.

Yellow Printed Cardigan: This is so cute and such a classy piece. Thank you A Little Sussy.
Blue Printed Cardigan: I saw a lady wearing this today and she looked amazing.

Black Silk Top: I saw a girl wearing this before and she looked so cute. She is a great dresser though.

Pink Heels: I want these now more than ever. I figure I love them (and blog about them) enough that I should save up an purchase them.

I really do need to buy more blazers anyhow. I should be focusing on that. I just got some cute new tops and a great pair of black pants but I need skirts and blazers for work.

Ohhh summer. I dread you!!!

Movie Review:

No Country for Old Men:
Ummm. This movie is great for anyone who loves a lot of random killing. (i.e. the snickers guy). As for the rest of us... it was a little much. The acting was all really great and they killed off all of the characters well. Just an awkward movie though. Too much.
Rating: ***

To Do: Be a Hot Bridesmaid

the bridesmaids and the dog, originally uploaded by i.chant.bean.

I have been asked to (for the first time) to be a Bridesmaid for my dear friend Amy.

1- I am SOOOO excited.
2- Amy is drop dead gorgeous and looks like a J-Crew model.
3- I have a lot of gal friends who may be getting married (before me) so I imagine that I will be a bridesmaid again.
4- I am SOOOOO excited. Did I mention that?
5- Her wedding is in Texas next May.
6- I introduced her to Snippet & Ink and she loves it.

Not My Favorite: Today

I am writing today... maybe all this week off as a crappy week.

I spent the whole day on the verge of tears. Everything went wrong today for the most part. (Except I was incredibly productive at work.)

My dad always gives me props because I try and find the good in everything. So here is my attempt at this...

God gives us struggles to make us stronger and to teach us a lesson. (This is always my starting point of my investigation.) So what is God trying to teach you?

***Update: right as I am typing "t-e-a" above in teach. I get a phone call from a number I don't recognize. Contrary to normally... I answered the call. Who is it? WHO is calling from a 301 area code? ... ... ... My Bishop.

God isn't subtly sometimes, He tells you exactly what he wants you to do.

Anyhow, I am meeting with the Bishop this Sunday to help clear my head. Obviously, this is what the Lord would like me to do.

(Wow, the tone of this post changed quite dramatically.)

My Favorite Thing Today: SITC

Here it is ladies...

To Do: Watch More 30 Rock

I love Tina Fey. I love 30 Rock. It finally has started to air again too.

Last night I was watching it and they had an epiphany (via Jenna on the show) that dating losers is like eating junk food. You know its bad for you but you do it because its easy. Hahha. So true.

(see above - junk food, douchebag)

As I sit here now full of a crap lunch (because its cold and I wanted a hot sandwich) and emailing a douchebag that I have been dating and I have never heard truer words.

Check it out here.

My New Favorite Blog: Baby Blogs!

Awwww. My dear friend Jami has a Baby Blog. I love the family/baby blogs that my friends have. Check hers out here. What a cute kiddo she has.

Movie Review:

I finally have updated my Blockbuster Queue and have been watching some great movies lately. I must share with you my opinions of them.

This is just your average mock-movie. Its okay for laughs but nothing special.
Rating: *

This movie was pretty interesting but I really didn't get the overall point.
Rating: **

This movie was hysterical. I laughed out loud and watched it twice.
Rating: *****

This movie was really cute. I just love Miss Little-Miss-Sunshine though.
Rating: ****

This movie was so fun. It really highlights a fun side of the President. I really love this.
Rating: *****

Long title but good movie. I felt awkward throughout most of the movie because the characters were in such bad positions but it just shows the acting was great.
Rating: ****

I really liked this movie. Its a darker storyline but a great cast.
Rating: ****

I liked this movie. Its Dennis did a great job. Interesting bit of history too.
Rating: ***

Stay away from this movie at all costs. People laughed out loud in the theater because the acting was so bad.
Rating: Run like hell away from this.

I know my reviews aren't the most detailed but you get the point. Come on!!

ALERT!!!!

To all the ladies out there... I have a major announcement!

There are still good men out there!! Repeat... There are still good men out there!!!

I spent the day with a friend and her old flame from the South. He is nothing less than perfect. To review: He was such a gentlemen.

He opened all the doors for both of us.

He paid for every meal.

He held the umbrellas for us.

He has his own company and is pretty darn wealthy.

He could carry on a conversation with all of the girls.

He is an Eagle Scout.

He has his pilot's license.

He really likes my friend but he could still make all her friends feel comfortable and special.

He has his own plane.

He has his own house. (well, more like four of them.)

He is a snazzy dresser.

He was fun.

He came up here to DC just to visit her, on his birthday too!!!

He literally wasn't anything less than the perfect gentleman all day. I sure hope that my friend doesn't let him go!!!
I don't think that I have ever met a better guy. I always hang out with/date losers/assholes/douchebags and so do most of my friends so I never really see good men out there. This was such a rare/eye opening experience for me.

My old roommate Gnomie used to date a really good guy. He was so fun and so nice. We all loved having him around.

My friend The Nanny has a boyfriend with a killer job and he seems really great too.

I rarely meet guys who have good jobs and good personalities and know how to treat the ladies right. I say THE ladies because its one thing to treat your GF right but when you treat her friends right too you are on a whole new playing field.

Today just gave me hope that there are still awesome guys out there that I need to be keeping an eye out for. As my friend Little Z says "Ditch the zeros and join the heros!"
(image via Rodney Smith check him out)

To Do: DO IT!

Dear Handsome Friend Mike,

If you are reading this... please start your own blog. I love you and you have a fantastic life. Please blog about it so that I can read it.

Love,
Me

PS- Thanks for making me hot and TAN. Its one of my New Year's Resolutions so you are totally helping me!!

The Pope: Other Photos

These are all via AP/AFP/Reuters.

More red shoes!!! I love it. I think he is AMAZING!!!

Happy Birthday Pope!

I love this picture. Its one of my favorites.

Everyone at the White House gets screened. No If, Ands or Buts!

My other favorite photo. "My Buddy."

Those flags would be the end of me.

I love how the President is glarring at Pelosi. "He was MY friend first Pelosi."

The Pope: The White House

I have nothing but love for the Pope. I have found today that I love the Pope, everything about him, even though I am not Catholic.

I was blessed to be able to attend the ceremony today. These photos are all from the White House website.

"Hey there!"

I may be in this picture somewhere to the right. See the smoke at the top. Canons. They scared the crap out of me.

Do you see how cute and kind the Pope is. Look at his face!!! I love him!

I believe this is after the Pope spoke and the President said "Awesome speech."

I see Condi at the bottom of this picture. He is so cute!

This lady has a lot of cleavage for singing to the Pope. Not appropriate.

The Popemobile. I have a picture standing right next to it. Ill put it up on my photo blog.

"This way Pope." (I am somewhere there in the background.)

"So... now what?"

"Surprise!!!! Happy Birthday Pope!!" (That's Bill in the hat, the head pastry chef!!)

I LOVE the Pope's little red shoes. More to come on these.

The Casa Blanca

"Bye Pope. Nice to have you."

To Do: Make Love

Oppps. I meant to write "Make Love Bars" :)

Thanks to Marta (image via Marta too) I made the most delish treat for my dear coworker Dickie Poo. He had the worst day yesterday and I wanted to show him a little love.

Since my bike finally is fixed (my first bike was stolen and then I bought a new one and someone stole the seat!!! Urgh!) I rode to the local Safeway (in the Ghetto, we call it the Un-Safeway) at 8pm last night to buy the supplies to make love... I mean Love Bars. Sorry. :)

Today will be fun. I have a cute outfit on and the Pope is coming tomorrow. Yay. Except I have to get here at 5:45am tomorrow for it. Urgh.

Shopping: Black Trench

I really really really want/need a little black trench for spring. My heavy black winter coat is way too much and I look super cool in my new aviators with a longer coat.

This way I look like a classy Secret Service Agent. :)

What I didn't know is that I needed these new flats that we featured in the pictures. How cute!

Lets be honest. We all know that I covet these shoes... and how cute would they be for a spring garden tour!

The Hostess with the Most-est

Hahah. I have been thinking about DC. Everyone (and I mean everyone) thinks that they are the most important person in DC. I cannot imagine being a hostess here and having to try and fit everyone "VIP" into a table.

I mean no matter where you work you think you are the *-ish. Whether you are a Cabinet member or a fancy Senator or a staffer on the Hill you think that you are entitled to special treatment. Hahah.
I love DC. LOVE IT!

To Do: Be grateful for Petty Officer Michael A. Monsoor, U.S. Navy

This post is about Michael Monsoor. A US Navy SEAL who jumped on top of a live grenade to save the other men in his unit. President Bush presented his family Monsoor's Medal of Honor yesterday. This is the highest honor that a member of the military can receive.

Please watch this video of the ceremony. Its on the right side of the page.

Its amazing. Here is more about Michael Monsoor's story.

The Story of Stuff

This is really cool (a little bias) but you get the point that we need to change the way we think and the way we act about stuff.

What a perfect video for me to watch. I have been thinking about the money that I spend all the time and how wasteful I am. I really want to travel and I am thinking of ways to save up my money and not spend it on silly crap all the time.

Let's look at my weekend spending (and this was a cheap weekend!)

Friday night -
I buy drinks (I don't even drink!) for my friends and leave a tip for the bartender $16
I also buy an appetizer that I didn't care for and only ate a little and with tip $12

Saturday -
I bought hair spray and water at CVS $7
I bought some fig newtons at YES! organic market $4

Saturday night - I inly drank water at the bar $0

Sunday -
Well I am still in bed and havent had a chance to consume/purchase anything.

This shows you that I spent almost $30 on crap I didn't even use/like! What the heck!!! Thus why I have chosen to quit spending money on crap. I want to save like there is no tomorrow so that I can pick up and travel when the time comes. I have also thought about selling my car and minimizing my debt so that my traveling will be more carefree. :)

My Favorite Person Today: Queen Rania

I am not going to cut and paste anything because I want everyone to do a little of there own research but I will give you some awesome links to starts.

Her goal is to educate the world on the Middle East, Islam and women's rights.

Wikipedia - Queen Rania
You Tube - Her Call Out (Check this one out!)

To Do: Buy Shoes

...believe it or not but this is not another shopping post.

I love reading this guys blog: Can of Worms. He is just a 23 year old kid from Cali who moved to Iraq to help people.

He also started this amazing company: Buy Shoes, Save Lives. And all the money goes to help people who need surgery.

Check it out and if you can... help out!!

Travel: Cinque Terre

I want to travel. That is why I left a great job in Arizona to come out to DC where there is a constant turnover. I want the opportunity to take some time off and travel the world.

How about taking a trip to Cinque Terre in Italy. How amazing is this place?!? I would love love love to check it out in real life. Urgh. I want a vacation. ASAP!

Weekend Wandering: Cherry Blossom Festival

Me and the BFF had an awesome weekend. This weekend was the first weekend of the National Cherry Blossom Festival (I am sure you know this if you read any DC blogs because everyone and there mother checked it out this weekend!)

But let's back up a bit. Friday night after work we met up to go to Happy Hour at McFadden's with some people from work. Small problem... the dork from work who was planning the whole happy hour experience forgot his ID and couldn't get into the bar. My BFF and I were already there and having fun so we stayed and laughed at them for not being able to get in. We didn't stay long though. But we went to Tortilla Coast (which is right on the Hill and one of my favorite places!) I have also become a sort of regular here at T-Coast and we stayed and watched some March Madness and later were joined by a dear friend and co-worker (who also doesn't drink- which means the bartender did not really like us...). Then the BFF, my co-worker, and I went back to my place and started to watch Dan in Real Life. (Great Movie!!)

Saturday morning the BFF and I woke up late. (Hey, we were both tired and needed a few hours of extra zzz's.) We made the most delicious crepes filled with ricotta cheese, cream cheese and cinnamon. Mmmmm. Then we got ready and went down to the Mall to check out the Kites and the Cherry Blossoms... well so did everyone else! It was crazy. One great perk about my job is that we get to park on the Ellipse and I totally got to park right on the Mall. We walked around (with a million other people) and checked out all the kites and then over to the Tidal Basin to check out the cherry blossoms.

***side note: people are like a fungus to this earth and this weekend totally showed that. People were everywhere - walking on the grass, in the middle of the roads, everywhere. It really is disgusting.

Then we came home and watched Kite Runner aka the best movie ever. I love it. And how appropriate to watch it after the National Kite Festival on the Mall. It was amazing. The movie truly highlights how beautiful Afghanistan was and how much the people there have had to deal with over the years. Another thing that I took from this movie is that you cannot judge a book by its cover. (Just watch the movie!!)

Then we went to Panache, which is a cute and funky restaurant/bar just south of Dupont, for a friend's birthday. It was so darn fun. I wish that I wasn't tired/sick and could have stayed later.

Anyhow, I slept in Sunday morning and missed church. And then got ready to go wait in line for tickets for the Opening Day Game at the new Nationals Park. I got there around 2-2:30 and the line was already around the corner! About 20 mins into it a man comes up to me and tries to sell me his place in line for $20! Soooo... I took it. He was about 100 people in and I was like 400th in line. Good buy! Anyhow, I got two tickets and the BFF and I went in the stadium around like 4pm for a game that didnt start until 8pm!

Anyhow, we had out cheap $5 seats way up in the Grand Stands but we went down towards the field and watched all the hot baseball players warm up. Mmmmm. But no one ever kicked us out of our seats on the field so we stayed there. First row. Next to the ball girl! It was awesome. We got to see the President throw out the first pitch and we got on the world's largest jumbo tron. It was an amazing night!!

New Direction

Okay, I have gone back and forth on where I want to take my blog. I really want to start giving you all more information about my crazy life here in DC and that means my personal adventures and my work adventures.

I think that this will be more fun (for all of us!) and it will help everyone see how freakin' cool DC really is.

This also means that I have a lot of catching up to do. Urgh. I have been really busy with work and I have really sucked at posting things that are actually intersting.

Get ready... here comes my new take on life. (or bloggin)
