Things I Always Wondered About...

Lesotho:

As a kiddo I always wondered if there was a country completely surrounded by another country. Well, there is. Its called Lesotho and its surrounded by South Africa.

Lets hope those two counties have good diplomatic relations.

Venice:

Also, when I was young I always wondered if there was a city that was in water.

I thought it would be neat if the streets were rivers and people used boats not cars.

There is such a place and its called Venice. I was so excited when I found this out.

I think that I need to visit both of these places. They both are so interesting to me. I feel like I dreamed them into reality.

To Do: Upgrade My Entry

This is my drabby entry way. It needs a makeover.

I have added a cute mail box and a big flower pot. But...

I was driving by a cute house the other day and I loved their yellow door.

What do you all think about me painting the door the yellow from the living room?

I think that it would look really cute. I need to talk to my landlord about it. And I want to buy some cute numbers for the address. I think it will make the whole place look amazing.

To Do: Plant Wheat Grass

Wheat Grass., originally uploaded by buddha is.

I got this idea from Oh Happy Day...

I have these flower boxes outside our apartment windows. I can't really keep anything alive in them and I want something fun... sooo...

I want to plant wheat grass in them. I think that it would look cute from the outside and it will make me feel great to look outside and see grass!!

My Little Apt + Sunny Days = Happiness

Its messy... okay. Give me a break.

(This is the first glimpse of mi casa.)

Please Remember: Keith "Matt" Maupin

There are so many men and women who we need to be thankful for this Memorial Day but we sometime forget their faces and their stories.

Here is one soldier who made an impact on my life today. At the ceremony at Arlington Cemetery today the President gave a Memorial Day speech... and after his speech he winked at one woman. The woman was the mother of Matt Maupin.
His family was sitting right in front of me at the ceremony and they were the President's special guests today. His parents are strong and they are true patriots.

Today I would like to highlight one soldier, Matt Maupin.

Matt was captured by Iraqi insurgents on April 9, 2004 and on June 28, 2004, Arabic-language television network Al Jazeera aired a low-quality video purportedly depicting Maupin's execution.

His body was found in late March 2008, but confirmation was not made until March 30, 2008 in Iraq.

Please check out these photos of his funeral.

There are more photos here. The President mentions his family in a speech here

Please read his story and remember him and all of the other soldiers who are Prisoners of War, Missing in Action or lost their lives throughout the years.

Happy Memorial Day!

I was blessed today.

I spent Memorial Day at Arlington Cemetery with President Bush, Secretary Robert Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen.

There was nothing better or more beautiful than what I saw today.

Needless to say... I cried like a baby!

There is the President from my seat.
