Cool Wedding

I would want my wedding to be something like the Under the Sea shoot by Michelle King. Check it out. Totally worth it.

I guess it would be because they are having so much fun together. I think I just want someone that will laugh with me through our entire wedding day. :)

I found it over at A Little Sussy

A Cool New Way To Run...

So remember when I told you that I was going to start swimming.

Well, I love it!!

Check out this article from Shape Magazine about "Water Running."

The lifeguard on duty yesterday at the pool totally hooked me up with some pointers. You really feel the burn and its great.

To Do: Read Letters

This story made me happy today

Blog v. Life

henry's, originally uploaded by Dario Torre.

I was just looking over my blog and I just really love it.

I have updated my blog roll. Please check out some of the new blogs that I have added.

Then I started to feel sad. I wish my life was as great as my blog is right now.

:(

Life isn't bad. I am just juggling right now and I have a lot of balls up in the air and I am waiting to see where they land.

Still looking for a job. Doing a lot of praying about it too. I really hope it works out. Soon.

Urgh, and I need new tires now on my Jeep.

Military Surplus

The ONE good thing that came out of this camping trip is my new love of military camping gear!

In fact, I am now obsessed with checking out these military surplus stores. They are so cheap and I love the old vintage-ness of it.

More here. Or just google it.

To Do: Camping

Here is the deal. No picture today. I don't feel like searching for one. I just feel like bitching.

Also, "The Boy" will now be referred to as "The Dude" that makes me laugh more. :)

Okay... now we can get started on the blogging.

If you have read my blog at all this week, then you know that I am craving an outdoor adventure.

Well, I roped {or maybe he roped me} into a fun weekend camping trip. I just wanted something easy and I wanted to go check out Harper's Ferry.

Issue 1: The Dude agrees to go camping with me. And so he asks, "What type of camping gear are you bringing to the table?" My answer, "My Jeep." Then he proceeds to explain to me that it is called "c-a-m-p-i-n-g" not "CAR-ing" so my Jeep will not be suitable for a tent.

Issue 2: I wanted to pack like 4 granola bars and some water in my bag and then grab some grub at the local restaurants. Then I was asked "When was the last time you went camping. That is not camping."

Issue 3: Now The Dude wants to bring along another Marine and his girlfriend. (Okay, this isn't really an issue but I think it does add to the problem.)

Issue 4: I am not allowed to bring along my cool mountain bike. :( I believe the term was "unnecessary gear."

Issue 5: I am supposed to round up a camping stove, a skillet, a big camping pan, my own sleeping bag and a sleeping mat. This was brought to my attention at 3pm today. Awesome, right.

Issue 6: I also need to read The Dude's mind to figure what kind of "man-meals" he wants to consume during this trip.

Oh, boy... I am just so frickin' excited about my easy-going-fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants-camping-getaway now!!

:) Woo hoo.

To Do: Show Some Love

I love Gretchen. I am really sorry to hear about Jeff. I am so sorry to hear about him passing away.

I love Gretchen so much. I think she is so great. She didn't deserve the shit that Vicki and Tamra gave her.

Need a laugh. Check this out.

I am totally on Team Donn too.

My Recent Thoughts

Keep your mouth closed.

Nothing bad. Just be quite. Sometimes.

About your love life. About your job possibilities. Everything.

When you talk about things before you are ABSOLUTELY sure about them then it just opens you up for trouble. :)

Also, I was reading "Why Men Love Bitches" and there are many men quoted saying that they love it when a girl isn't always talking. Just be quite. Be mysterious.

Eastern Market, originally uploaded by Hoffmann.

I love Eastern Market in DC. Its just 6 blocks from my house and I love it.

I got my mom her birthday gifts here this weekend.

I also bought myself some fab Valentine's Day gifts. Everything that I have been wanting.

- a gold square ring
- a copper band ring
- a long (super long) strand of pearls
- a {fake} black Goyard bag

It was the best day a girl could ask for!!

I LOVE Eastern Market.

With all this "spare time" on my hands I have been really trying to keep busy (and I figure that it is a great time to get my workout on!)

Tomorrow I am going to start lap swimming in the mornings (6:30am!)

I am really excited.

I am using my black and gray Ralph Lauren gym bag, black towel, black flip flops, black goggles, and a new black Speedo swimsuit.

I am so excited.

My Recent Thoughts

Everyone... EVERYONE... no matter how young or how old, male or female, strong or weak, loves positive encouragement.

Everyone wants to feel like they are good at something.

The key to people is to make them feel good about themselves.

My Recent Thoughts

I always find myself demanding perfection from everyone around me.

I am a perfectionist.

Then it hit me one day.

No one is perfect... And if you always demand perfection then you will always be disappointed.

With yourself and with those around you.

Those that you love.

To Do: Tears

Tears, originally uploaded by Comme l'amour ♥.

Something broke my heart today.

I was waiting to meet a friend down in southeast DC (not a good neighborhood) and I see this older black gentleman in a wheelchair with only one leg. He had a large briefcase or folder on his lap that he had to hold with one hand and he was trying to push his wheelchair with the other hand. I could see that he was struggling.

I watched from a distance for a minute. Just imagining myself in a similar situation and how I would just feel lost in the middle of no where with no hope in sight.

As the man got closer to me, I could see that he had tears running down his cheeks.

My heart literally broke.

I jumped out of my car (leaving my keys in the car while it was still running) and rushed to his aide.

This man will always have a place in my heart. Every time I think about him. I just pray.

I really love these today.

I love all animal crackers but these originals are my favorite.

To Do: Have A Good Day

So, this may seem sorta sad... but sometimes I judge my days by how many green lights I hit on the way home.

There is one stoplight right by my house that is NEVER green. And IF it is green... I know it was a really good day!

To Do: Vogue

Because I love The House and I support whoever lives there.

To Do: Love To Hate

Patti from Bravo's new Millionaire Matchmaker is someone that I love to hate.

Her voice kills me. I am concerned that she isn't married. And there is something about her body that just isn't right.

BUT...

She is on the money. I really like her.

"Guys want a girl with hair that they can run their hands through."

Patti, you are a genius.

To Do: Keep Your Fingers Crossed

I may get a job offer this week.

Pretty much my dream job too.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

To Do: Hang With The Gals

So, I liked "He's Just Not That Into You" but it makes you kinda hate men when you leave.

Well, most of them.

I think that Jennifer Aniston's story was my favorite. She is so pretty.

I love these pictures, from here

So I am on Day One without any sweet treats.

I am not too worried about hidden sugars in foods. Just sweet treats.

To Do: Sittin' On The Dock By The Bay

hz0886.JPG, originally uploaded by AndreJenny.com.

This morning I had a big interview so as I was getting ready I came out to the kitchen to see The Boy making breakfast and listening to some Otis Redding.

We both had the day off and had been planning to have an un-planned "Day-o-Fun." So we decided that we would head over to Annapolis, Maryland.

We had a great day. We even managed to sit on the dock by the bay. :)

To Do: Put Up A Damn Fight

Okay, I love this book (and now this one too) because I have always hated how women act around men and in relationships.

I have been me for 24 years. Who says that just because some guy comes along he should be able to change that. I try and make sure that that doesn't happen to me.

How low are we setting the bar ladies? I feel that guys don't even have to work for it anymore.

No problems in my love life - but here is the story. I am "dating" a really great guy. All of my girlfriends hear stories about him and the cute things that he does and they all love him and think that their guys should try and treat them a little better too.

So I tell The Boy about this and you know what he says? He is shocked. He says that he really hasn't done anything. He says that I don't even know of the cute things he is capable of doing.

I stopped and thought about it for a minute. He was right. He hasn't really done anything that special. No grand gestures. No uber-romantic moments. He just calls me when he says he will, treats me like an equal and we laugh a lot when we are together.

So, is the standard so low for guys that they can just be humane then we think they are amazing? Urgh. I hope not.

***Needless to say, I am going to go see The Movie when it comes out on Friday!!

To Do: Mother

b/w mother & child, originally uploaded by InsideMyShell.

Okay, can I tell you a secret? A real secret this time...??

I am terrified that I won't be a good mother.

I am so inspired by these two mothers.

here and here

I love how fun they are.

I love their colorful homes.

I love that their families are strong and pray.

I love that they laugh at themselves and at their kids.

I hope that I can be just a little bit like them someday...
