Well Hello...

Its me. Your old blogging friend.

You might have asked yourself... "I wonder why This One doesn't blog anymore." Well, if you did then I have the answer to that question for you... right here...

BECAUSE I HAVE LOST IT! I must have gone crazy at some point this summer in this humid DC weather because I have decided to fill up my schedule. Well, we are nearing an overflow, I guess.

Not only am I still working as an event planner for the Marine Cops, but I now find myself with four jobs. Four. Who does this? Me, I guess. In an effort to whored away money, I have picked up a second job working at World Market. Which I love, and I thought one day, "Hey, it would be fun to work here." And then it happened. Meanwhile, I also found a gig as a personal assistant for a busy executive and thought, "Hey, this would be fun." And it happened. And I have been a puppy sitter on the weekends for over a year now. So life as I once knew it is gone.

And I love it.

I feel that I have had to teach myself responsibility with all of this extra workload. Instead of coming home and doing nothing, I have to get certain things done and I force myself to do them. So I actually find myself more productive now.

In addition, I have decided that to start exercising a lot more. I have no excuse anymore and I just want to feel better. I have a fabulous free gym at work and a nice free gym down the street so why the heck not. So, now I workout after work and take yoga on Thursdays (at 6-frickin-o'clock in the morning) and do workout videos as well.

This is a great way to learn how to juggle... life.
And now, for my final trick... I am going to return to blogging!! :)

(heck, what is one more thing to juggle?)

To Do: Work

I love my job.

I love working for the Marine Corps. Crazy bunch they are.

"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!" ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

I love that I know everyone in this video. :)

To Do: Remember Darfur

Marking International "Human Rights Day," President George W. Bush meets with Dr.Halima Bashir, a Darfur Human Rights Activist in the Oval Office of the White House. President Bush said Dr. Bashir, the author of "Tears of the Desert," "This good soul brings firsthand accounts to what life is like in Darfur. She has witnessed violence, deprivation, and she carries a message of a lot of people who want our help." White House photo by Chris Greenberg

President Bush marked international “Human Rights Day” and the 60th anniversary
of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by meeting this afternoon with Dr.
Halima Bashir
, a Sudanese rape-torture survivor turned human rights
activist.

President Bush held up a copy of Dr. Bashir’s recently
published book Tears of the Desert: A Memoir of Survival in Darfur and said she
"brings first-hand accounts" of the "violence and deprivation” that is taking
place in Darfur."

The President assured his visitor that “despite the
economic difficulties, our aid will continue to flow.” He expressed frustration
with “the pace of activities” by the U.N. and said that Sudanese President
Bashir (no relation) “cannot escape accountability” for the situation.

Dr. Bashir, wearing a white, red and black patterned outfit that covered
all of her body except for her eyes, spoke so softly that her words were barely
audible over the constant click of camera shutters. She thanked the President
for inviting her to the White House, condemned the “almost incomprehensible”
violence and asked him to do what he could to “stop the genocide and crisis in
Darfur.”

(Dr. Bashir chose to cover up almost her entire body to protect
her identity.)

Bashir, a rare college-educated woman in her Zaghawa
tribe, was working as a doctor in a remote Darfur village when the Janjaweed
militia, which is supported by the Sudanese central government, surrounded a
girl's school and systematically raped 42 teachers and students, some as young
as 8 years old. As punishment for treating the injured women, soldiers kidnapped
Bashir and brutalized her. In Tears of the Desert she wrote, “The three of them
took turns raping me. And while doing so they burned me with their cigarettes,
and cut me with their blades. They raped me until I lost consciousness. ...There
was nothing more that anyone could do to me. My life was over."

Fortunately, it was not. She escaped and eventually won asylum in
England, along with her husband and children. She has become a leading advocate
for international action to end Darfur violence, particularly terror aimed at
women and children.

A bit of background: The White House says that the
U.S. has spent more than $5 billion since 2004 for security and humanitarian
intervention in Darfur. According to the White House, U.S. programs currently
help to provide food, shelter, health care and medical care for more than 4.2
million people.

Observations of my day...

There is a point in lfe when all you can do is laugh. I may be at that point.

Right now the guys in my life are a lot like the jobs I am looking at...

All the good ones go to someone else and the ones who want me - I am not interested in.

Happy Fourth!

Hello Lovelies!

Sorry I was busy all weekend and neglected to blog. I am back though.

Anyhow, the Fourth of July is my favorite holiday and I have finally found someone who loves it as much as I do. (Little Z).

We had a lovely "Happy Birthday America" party at my hot apartment this weekend and it was such a hit. That was the first party I have hosted there.

Then we went and watched the fireworks on the South Lawn of the White House with some friends. It was THE most amazing experience ever!

Then my Aunt and Uncle were in town so I had to show them around (see pic above). It was so great to see them! I love visiting with family.

Also my BFF and her little sister were in town and came on some tours with us (see pic above). Then last night (or early this morning) we packed up my BFF for her move to Arizona. We got her out the door and on the road by 1:00am this morning. (sadface!)

I also got a lovely treat in the mail from my swap buddy this weekend. It made my day! I am sending yours this week. Promise!!

My last post...

was pretty vague.

I hate when my friends post about something going on in their life but they just hint at it, and they never tell you what is going on. I read blogs so I don't have to put in any effort into our friendship. I kid. I kid. (Sorta.)

Anyhow, I started to think about how I can expand on my last post. Here is what I came up with:

In the Pursuit of Happiness, the son tells his dad this story about having blind faith. It goes a little something like this...

Hey dad, you wanna hear something funny? There was a man who was drowning, and a boat came, and the man on the boat said "Do you need help?" and the man said
"God will save me". Then another boat came and he tried to help him, but he
said "God will save me", then he drowned and went to Heaven. Then the man
told God, "God, why didn't you save me?" and God said "I sent you two boats,
you dummy!"

The point is that sometimes you have to have faith and sometimes you have to take care of things yourself. So I ask myself... is God sending me boats right now?

Anyhow, I have been thinking about this recently and then I went out to dinner with my friends tonight and my fortune cookie says...

Many possibilities are open to you - work a little harder.

So... maybe I should wait... for one more boat to come my way.

To Do: Have Faith

Don't Ever Fade Away, originally uploaded by Lady Vervaine.

I feel like I am walking in the dark.

I feel that if I have faith and walk in the dark now, Ill see that light at the end of the tunnel.

Hopefully soon rather than later.

(This is good news I am waiting for and I am not trying to be deep or poetic. promise!)

Happy Memorial Day!

I was blessed today.

I spent Memorial Day at Arlington Cemetery with President Bush, Secretary Robert Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen.

There was nothing better or more beautiful than what I saw today.

Needless to say... I cried like a baby!
