To Do: Love

I find love so amusing. I watch it and I study it. I love to read about it and dissect it. If I could find someone who loved me as much as Danny loved Annie, I would be happy camper.

You must watch this video.

Its the love story of a Brooklyn couple and their 27 years together - from their first date to terminal cancer.

You will cry tho. But it is worth it.

To Do: Missed Connections

Speaking of dating, tonight I was on the phone chatting with my mom about my whole situation (see the last post) while grocery shopping. I was chatting and chatting with her and realized that...
a) people kept looking at me so I must have been speaking too loud
b) my shopping list was on my phone so I needed to quit talking and shop
c) there was a cute guy shopping around me too

...so I said goodbye to my mom near the cute guy and continued shopping. Then super cute guy followed me down the aisle and then said,
"Geez, I am so glad that you finally got off the phone."
We laughed and then moved on. Aisle after aisle we kept running into each other. (PS - he was in uniform.) And I started thinking, "dude, he was listening in on my conversation!"

So I went up to him and said,
"So, do you gather intellegence for the Air Force or something? Because you are a great eavesdropper."
We laughed again, totally flirting. And he followed me to the check out. We said goodbye and then ended up at the same stop light where we smiled and waved... and then what... NOTHING!

How stupid am I!?!

So, I will be spending the evening constantly refreshing the Craiglist Missed Connections site to see if he loves me and wrote me a note. ALL. NIGHT. LONG.

It made me think of this...

Joanna blogged about this missed connection picture drawn by Artist Sophie Blackall.

PS- I was totally kidding about spending the rest of the night checking the Craigslist site.

Ill only check it every few hours. Hahah. :)

To Do: Find Love

Okay, taking the idea from Ice Cream & Peonies about "things i should be embarrassed about" I feel that I should share with you today... about things I should be embarrassed about but instead, blog about.

Well, I was volunteering the other day and I was so darn bored sitting there with no one around. And it was the first time that I had watched TV in a long time and an eHarmony commercial was on and I thought..."Hey, why not!?!"

So I set up a little account for myself, answered all of their questions (heck, anything that consumed my time was great at this point!) and then I saw the price tag on it. But with a little investigating I found a cheap promo code that made it worth the time.

I am not expecting to find the love of my life but I figure that I little dating can't hurt, right? So, I went with it.

It has taught me a whole bunch about myself.
1- I imagine that everyone is good looking. Like Shallow Hal's vision of life. Well, they are not.
2- I have realized that I am really snobby. And that I place a lot on appearances. Oops.
3- There is nothing worse than when someone that you find unattractive, doesn't want to date you! Hello, I am fabulous.
4- Online dating might be for nerds. But I have already paid for 3 months. So, Ill give it a shot.

So on top of all of this... what happens?

I get matched with someone I work with! AWKWARD!!

But my goal this real is to be real and honest. Instead of lying and telling him that someone set it up for me and I think it is stupid I am gonna just face it.

But still... AWKWARD!

To Do: Eat, Drink and Be Merry

Just for the record... I am not getting married anytime soon.

Still need a crucial part of that equation.

But, I haven't been able to quit thinking about these images.

You see, I am a pretty conservative gal. I wear pearl studs everyday, I only like things that are black/white, and I everything must be simple and clean in my life.

But I want to marry my best friend. (just need to find him)

And I cannot stop thinking about having a wild wedding someday.

Not too long ago I watched Rachel Getting Married (which is totally a weird movie) but I am just in love with their wedding. Everything about it actually. But I mostly love the reception. I want a reception like that. Showgirls are a must. And I am not kidding.

And I also can't quit thinking about this circus-themed wedding that Joanna posted about on Smitten.

I love the fact that it looks fun and simple.

I love the food idea!! Just simple good ol' food.

I want a wedding that is full of love. And I want everyone to have the most ridiculously amazing time. I think weddings should be about love and not money.

Currently Loving:

I just love this post by Le Love. Just a little re-posting going on here.

Things I loved about you

The way you stared at me when I close my eyes, then you closed your eyes and I stared at you

How perfectly your hand fit in mine

How you seemed so strong on the outside, but I could tell you were so sweet on the inside

The way you said I love you, because you sounded so shy

How during that first time we were alone, when we held hands and talked for hours and finally kissed after so long

How you were so interested in my life and what I was doing

How you remembered everything I said to you perfectly

When you texted me randomly (as little as that may be)

When you told me I’m one of the most perfect girls you’ve ever met

How you were too shy to hold my hand, in case I didn’t want you to

The awkward moments - because they weren’t really awkward at all

Sitting at the table with your family and enjoying myself and you

Taking photo booth pictures with you and you made the best faces I’ve ever seen

Getting high together and making weird animal sounds as we walked back to your house

The way you made me feel after we made out for an hour

How you told me I looked great every time we saw each other - despite how untrue I thought it was

How I sat on your lap when we went on the computer together, and your legs fell asleep but you didn’t care, as long as I was sitting that close to you

How even on the coldest nights, you lent me your sweater

How much you have passions for things

Your laugh/smile

How you always made fun of me - I secretly loved it

What a loser you are, because I am too

How you admitted defeat and say sorry when I wouldn’t let you win a fight

The way you made the butterflies in my stomach flutter every time I saw your smile

How much you made me love you.

But now they are things of the past, since we broke up. I’m slowly getting over every one of these ways I loved you by replacing them with things I don’t like about you. I don’t think it’s working too well, though, because I know they will each still be in the back of my head because you were my first love and I will never forget you or a single thing that I loved about you. And truthfully, I still love most of those things. I’ll miss every one of them.

To Do: Mate

So Little Z and I were out walking/exercising today.

This normally starts with a trip to 7/11 to get slurpees. (mine ONLY banana and pina colada, Z with a little taste of every flavor)

It also consists of a lot of gossip and chatting about life.

Today we were discussing the perfect guy for me.

>>>side note: does anyone remember those games you play as a kid where each person adds something new to the list. like I am going to the zoo and I am going to bring a banana. then I am going to the zoo and I am going to bring a banana and a cactus...etc.

back to the point. this is pretty much how we have created the perfect guy in our heads.

"He must be Mormon. He must be Mormon and a Marine. He must be a Mormon, Marine with a boat...etc."

Anyhow, Little Z says to me today.
"I am normally totally against this. You know. But I think that you should join eHarmony so that you can narrow your search. You could literally type in the perfect man for you."

That's about when I realized that I may be putting too much into this. :)

aww, The Dude loved banana slurpees too. :(

Natalie, you are so smart. I wish I were more like you!!

check out her relationship equation...

if you like me= x

i should* like you = x - 1

I think I need to get on that boat. I am in the midst of a new relationship/thing and I think I like him more than I should*!!

To Do: Be Happy for the Rest of Your Life

(you are welcome for the image, found here)

I love that song "If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife." (I plan on playing this song for my husband everyday once I am married so that he will be reminded how lucky he is to have me!)

But this article says otherwise. I guess its the opposite. If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a hot guy your husband (in my mind I made this rhyme.)

I woke up to talk radio (WRFK, or something) this morning (maybe that's why this has been a bum day) and they were discussing this. But they were all guys and didn't have the token female DJ to chime in and bring legitimacy to the convo.

Truth is, I think its true. If you date a guy who is hotter than you, you will always worry that he will cheat on you. But if you date an "un-hot" guy who worships you then you will have a better marriage.

Hmmmm. I still want the hit guy though. Lets be honest.

To Do: Lose a Guy

So a while back the BFF and I watched "How to Lose a Guy in 10 days." a true classic. and it made me think about all of the stupid things we girls do.

in combination of my extensive research on this subject, this movie, "he's just not that into you," and "why men love bitches," I have decided to blog about this topic. I have always been able to relate a little better to guys that I have with girls. I often find myself listening to my girl friends' relationship stories and I am normally able to relate more with her boyfriend than anything else.

- do not become best friends with his mother. growing up I was always friends with the guys and they were always the cute, athletic, popular guys. i have watched many girls fall into the idea that if you become best friends with his mother it will make him fall in love with you more. the truth is, we normally become such good friends with his mother that we start to gang up on him and the last thing that a guy needs is two nagging women in his life. he most likely does want you to get along with his mother but you are dating him... not his mother. remember this.

- you had a life before you met him, keep your life after. I was recently talking with one of my favorite guys. one that provides me a lot of insight into the mind of a guy. he was talking about how ever since he started dating a new girl he feels that she wants to hang out with him all the time. he wondered what she ever did before she met him because it seems that he has become the center of her life. the reason why guys like "bitches" is because they are confident. they are going to say, "hey, I am going out with the girls this weekend. Ill talk to you monday" and just leave it at that. if you meet a guy and you like him, great, but keep on trucking with your life and let him fall into it.

- dont fall into all the "rules of contacting him." treat him like any other person in your life. if he calls you, call him back. if you missed a call from one of your friends, you'd call her back. also, you dont wait around for your best friend to call you all the time, I am sure that you call her sometimes... so call him sometimes. the key to this is to call him sometimes. not all the time. not never. sometimes. dont be a freak about emailing/texting/calling him. treat him like any other person in your life and use your best judgement. the best rule here is to once again be confident and continue on with your life and let him fall into it.

- dont lose yourself in a relationship. if a guy doesnt call you that doesnt mean that you are worthless and it doesnt mean that he is an asshole. just continue on with your life like you did before you met him.

- dont put a label on it. people think that when they label their relationship a "relationship" things will become crazy. dont let it. dont label it. continue being friends who love to hang out and are committed to each other.

- dont pick a fight. so many times I see girls try to pick fights to make their guys pay more attention to them. and I have seen guys do jerky things to have their girlfriends pick a fight with them. this is called a bad relationship and you should leave it asap!

overall, I would say that you need to continue being your badd self and let a relationship happen. a guy should fit into your life perfectly if it is meant to be.

Little Gold Band

Wedding rings 3D, originally uploaded by WeddingChaos.

This universal symbol is not understood in the beautiful District of Columbia. You would think that a wedding band would take you off the market just like a sold sign, but not here my friends.

I think that guys are super shady about this. They are always cheating and removing their rings. Sooo shady. DC is shady!

ALERT!!!!

To all the ladies out there... I have a major announcement!

There are still good men out there!! Repeat... There are still good men out there!!!

I spent the day with a friend and her old flame from the South. He is nothing less than perfect. To review: He was such a gentlemen.

He opened all the doors for both of us.

He paid for every meal.

He held the umbrellas for us.

He has his own company and is pretty darn wealthy.

He could carry on a conversation with all of the girls.

He is an Eagle Scout.

He has his pilot's license.

He really likes my friend but he could still make all her friends feel comfortable and special.

He has his own plane.

He has his own house. (well, more like four of them.)

He is a snazzy dresser.

He was fun.

He came up here to DC just to visit her, on his birthday too!!!

He literally wasn't anything less than the perfect gentleman all day. I sure hope that my friend doesn't let him go!!!
I don't think that I have ever met a better guy. I always hang out with/date losers/assholes/douchebags and so do most of my friends so I never really see good men out there. This was such a rare/eye opening experience for me.

My old roommate Gnomie used to date a really good guy. He was so fun and so nice. We all loved having him around.

My friend The Nanny has a boyfriend with a killer job and he seems really great too.

I rarely meet guys who have good jobs and good personalities and know how to treat the ladies right. I say THE ladies because its one thing to treat your GF right but when you treat her friends right too you are on a whole new playing field.

Today just gave me hope that there are still awesome guys out there that I need to be keeping an eye out for. As my friend Little Z says "Ditch the zeros and join the heros!"

To Do: Stalk Guy in Neighborhood with Dog

Urgh. So I was running out the door one Friday night two weeks ago and ran into a guy walking his dog. I couldn't help but smile at the cute little pooch and that sparked a conversation with the guy walking the dog that I had yet to really notice.

I don't really remember how we got to the topic of our jobs but I mentioned where I worked and he mentioned that he worked in the private sector but for a organization that my office works with a lot.
Needless to say we had a lot in common in our short conversation.

Although... I really don't remember much about our conversation, I don't remember his name (the dog's name was Guiness, it was a chocolate lab), and I totally have no idea what he looks like. In fact, I just remember that he started to take off his beanie and fix his hair once we started chatting and then I realized that he was cute and he was interested in me. Or so I though.

I gave him my email address and I have yet to hear anything from him. I told him that I would give him a tour of my building. In fact, he mentioned that he is totally jealous of where I work so I figure that he would email me for at least a damn tour, but nothing yet.

Now I did the girl thing and figured that he was intimidated by me and my job or he didnt want to bother me, but then I remember my favorite book, "He's Just Not That Into You" and I realized that if he wanted to contact me... he would have.

Anyhow, I just saw him walking the dog again but I was in my car. Oh well.
